This spring, we were fortunate enough to take on an intern, one of our Leadership Academy graduates, Arabiou Diallo. She spent several months with us building her professional toolkit and she reflects on her experiences with PowerPlay’s team here:
“My name is Arabiou Diallo. I am a Junior in International High School at Union Square, and I am a 2015 Leadership Academy graduate.
PowerPlay showed me how the real world is, they rocked my life, taught me to dream big, and after my summer with PowerPlay as a participant in the Leadership Academy, they offered me another memorable opportunity — an internship.
I have been interning with PowerPlay for the past three months. I gained fantastic experience that will lead me to the right path of success. I discovered the routine of any office life and what office culture is. Other things I learned include how to enter data on the computer into management systems, for example, entering the information of the PowerPlay students and important surveys taken by the kids in the program and how to write a professional thank-you note. One thing I love about the my internship site is the flexibility of my mentors. They are my role models.
Overall, being involved with PowerPlay is a great achievement for me.”
We are so happy to have Arabiou as a part of our community and thankful we’ve had this experience with her. Best of luck, Arabiou on your next step to your dreams!
