Girl Power Days celebrate the youth in our programming. Girls take part in different sports, gain knowledge on important topics like financial literacy and healthy living and most importantly have fun, make new friendships and participate in creating the supportive culture that PowerPlay is dedicated to providing for girls and young women in NYC.
This particular Girl Power Day at Public School 91 the amazing and passionate Shantae Edwards of Passion Pushers: Driving the Dreamemceed and got our day started off right! We ran basketball workshops courtesy of members of The City College of New York Women’s Basketball team. We also offered a healthy living workshop where the girls increased their knowledge of goal-setting and workshoped on future plans, illustrated through art!
A huge PowerPlay Thank You to NY City Councilman Fernando Cabrera for being such a strong advocate for youth and a dedicated supporter of extracurricular programs that teach young people healthy ways to express themselves, especially PowerPlay’s! #STARSnycgirls #gogirlgo
