November 4th, 2019, will forever be etched into the memories of 16 PowerPlay participants who were treated to the opportunity of a lifetime courtesy of our partnership with the Brooklyn Nets and Inter Continental Hotels Group (IHG). These young women – representatives of the MS88 JV Basketball team were chosen for this opportunity as a result of their hard work and dedication to being great student-athletes.
These special young women were featured in an IHG campaign called “In Real Life” and received the ultimate VIP treatment. The girls enjoyed dinner at the Holiday Inn, then headed over to Barclays Center – home of the Brooklyn Nets. Pre-game courtside access meant that the girls got the opportunity to see the preparation that goes into performing at an elite level. Half of the girls moonlighted as ‘Anthem Girls’, while the other half participated on the halftime ‘High-five’ line. Each opportunity allowed for direct interaction with Brooklyn Nets players. This entire experience was of extreme importance to these girls who are still discovering a passion for the sport of basketball. The opportunity to see – first hand – elite level basketball, will strengthen their desire for the sport.
