Nicole Mussenden

President & CEO

As President and CEO of PowerPlay NYC, Nicole is responsible for the organization’s 1,800 girls it serves in the five boroughs of NYC and the achievement of its mission and financial objectives. She is a seasoned leader who directs and participates in initiatives that support diverse and inclusive environments across non-profit, corporate and educational sectors.

Experience
Prior to joining PowerPlay NYC, Nicole served for over ten years as Director of Affiliate Sales and Marketing at Fox Networks and ESPN. Nicole negotiated over 250 sports, entertainment, and broadcast content license agreements for such networks as ESPN, Fox Sports Regional Networks, Big Ten Network, FX, National Geographic Channel and FOX Broadcast Network. Nicole was responsible for over $200 million in annual revenue and was credited with leading high-performing teams. She also served as Manager of Affiliate Relations at Madison Square Garden Networks. Nicole’s career in sports began when she was selected by SportsChannel New York as Manager of Affiliate Relations via the Walter Kaitz Foundation Fellowship Program. Nicole was also the recipient of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute (BLMI) Fellowship, the gold-standard leadership development program for women in the cable and telecommunications industry.

Awards / Recognition
She was also nominated by a Fox Networks’ client and received the Black Achievers in Industry (BAI) award. Prior to her career in sports, Nicole was a civil engineer and an industrial account manager at National Grid. She also served as the President of the National Society of Black Engineers NYC Alumni Association. Nicole also impacted the lives of diverse young adults in her capacity as Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University and LIM College where she taught Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing and Sport Management.

Education
Nicole earned an MBA degree at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
